I stumbled upon the album because I recognized it from a review in Industrial Nation magazine. Oddly enough the review was probably written by a roomate I lived with a couple years later. I would later spend a considerable amount of time trying to find albums by John, such as Trust Obey: Fear and Bullets which is a sort of musical companion to James Obarrs Crow comic. In turn John is sited in A. A. Anistatio's Crow novel Hellbound. What facinates me about John's music is it's blunt brutality. Terra Damnata is reminisent of a trainride to hell with ghoulish vocals and grinding rythms. Not for everyone. Another favorite track is the Ministry tribute of Revenge that John colaborated on. Just now I looked up John again and have found that he does 3d art and animation. I like the guy more and more. Multi-talented and inspiring, he is.

Skold Vs. It's sad to think that they could completely disapear because of widescreen TVs and Multiplexes.

Wayshak?

Discovered a comic book artist that I really like Jonathan Wayshak.
Here's his website.

scrapbookmanifesto.com

Work in progress

So here's a little preview of a new series of art I'm starting to work on.

<img style="display:block; Somewhere in my mind I knew I had seen this done. So I googled coffin couch, and found coffincouches.com of course. Now thes cofffin aren't what I had pictured in my head. They're the rectangular modern coffins. Not the old fashioned wide at the top small at the bottome like they used to make. Anyhow I do think these are pretty cool. Another cool thing I found was casketfurniture.com. They have really cool coffin display cases. Check this out.

Someday I'd like to have a place with furniture like this. I know it's weird, but that's who I am. Anyhow enough of this nonsense. Furniture made like coffins? When I was just out of Highschool I found out about a gallery called Dark's Art Parlor in L.A. it was run by artists R.H.Phister, and Gomez . I found out about it because my friend had their amazing catalogues. When I finally got to see the art in person I was not disapointed. I went from wanting to just make surreal art to wanting to make dark surreal art. Seeing so much artwork in the vein of what I was interested in really made me aware that what I was interested in wasn't so weird, but it was certainly unique. The other shop I went to was Necromance, it's still there, and has an Annex. They've got all kinds of bones, and skulls, and taxidermied animals. I wanted to live there.

The Dark's Art Parlor website is still up, but it doesn't seem to be updated. Go to check out R.H. Phister's work. When I saw her work she was working in black and white (graphite, I think?) on canvas, and then adding some 3d to it by either sowing in padding, or poking nails or glass thru the canvas. I thought it was really cool.

Without these two shops in LA, I probably wouldn't be who I am. It's a shame that Dark's Art is no more.

Another huge influence has been Clive Barker, and his creation Hellraiser.
